Renovation a Complete Guide
Published in Hardcover by Univ Of Mi Press ()
Author: Michael Litchfield

This book takes the mystery out of renovation
I am a first-time female homeowner of a pre-war apartment. It is amazing what you can do after reading this book. Most people I know find doing-it-yourself an intimidating process and wouldn't conceive of undertaking the simplest of jobs themselves. They just wouldn't know where to begin. "Renovation" has taken me from life-long yuppie renter to where my power drill is now my best friend.

Litchfield does a great job of guiding you through each aspect of home renovation. The explanations are well-written and clear, the illustrations are extremely helpful, so while it does not seem dumbed-down in any way, the first-time DIYer will find it very useful. Now when I go to Home Depot, I can ask intelligent questions about what I need to buy.

It's going to become a regular housewarming gift for my friends.

Best single-source guide for your home
I whole heartedly agree with other posters that if you buy only one do-it-yourself style book for your home, this is the one. Even if you plan on hiring a contractor to do the work, this book will help you clearly understand the tasks at hand. If you ever wondered what lies behind the walls of your home, here's your own inexpensive x-ray machine! The figures & photos are excellent and are a great compliment to the writing.

I showed my copy of this book to someone at work and they went to the book store the next day to buy their own copy. Yes, it's that impressive. Maybe a professional contractor would argue against my point, but for the average person, it's fantastic.

Once you read it, you'll go back to it again and again. In my opinion, it's well worth the cost.

Simply outstanding book!
From a bookshelf cluttered with books about how to fix and maintain a house, this is always the first book I take down. It's usually the only book I need to open: it's complete, comprehensive, concise, clearly illustrated, and accessible. This is the book that my friends borrow, and which I then have to either tear out of their hands or make a gift of and buy another copy -- this will make my third!

This book is well worth the price for even the journeyman do-it-yourselfer. In my opinion, if you buy only one book, this is the one; if you buy lots, this is one of them.

Inspiring
I thought this book was wonderful, it really makes you realize what you need to do to keep love going on and on in a relationship and not let things get dull. It makes you a more pationate person just reading it, and inspires you to keep the flame of a relationship going on forever. This was a very uplifting and happy book that had great stories and great information.

Thank You
Dear Mr.Litchfield,
Thank you so much for sharing your heart to the entire population of people who are willing to listen. I personally believe that this book that you have written is one of the best I have ever read. I will keep it in my library forever to always look uopn it when I need guidence. It really made me stop and re-think how I treat everyone I love. It helped me realize that no one is perfect and pateince, persistance, love, and forgiveness will make your love last forever. A teacher once said to me that in order to be a good writer, you must communicate to readers who are rushed and hurried and slow thier pace in life to sit for a minute and want to read what you have written. I believe with all of my heart that you have fully accomplished this goal. Your book stopped me dead in my tracks of the fast pased reality of life. Thank you for the wonderful experiance.

Great for 1st Grade classrooms!
My first grade students love this book! It is equally valued by my gifted and also struggling students. The children use it in a story writing center to help when they need to spell a word, or get ideas. This book is arranged by themes rather than alphabetically, for example, there is a 2 page spread of food words. This helps the students who are not ready to look up words alphabetically. The pictures are bright and clear. The book is sturdy enough to survive being handled daily by several students. Easily 5 stars!!

Teh usborne book of everyday words
I think this book is fantastic and should be kept by every parent with little children, even for my own child who is now only one and half year old. She loves this book at first sight. The pictures are bright and look real in the busy everyday environment. Everytime you read it, you discover some new things. The paper quality is good and it is not easy to be damaged by my baby. The problem now I have is I have to read with my baby every page every night before she agrees to go to sleep. She likes to point to every item in the page and ask me to tell her the names.

The right help at last!
So many books are about blindness. At last, I have found one to help my child cope with failing vision. People seem more understanding if you are blind but if you are severaly visually impaired, they don't seem to accept the fact that you have a handicap and they make fun of you.

Two words come to mind - lovely and charming.
Marie Litchfield grew up in an English village during the 1930s
and the 1940s. She eventually becomes a Carmelite nun. And
she very lovingly tells of her family life and of her life in
the convent. The story is simple and direct. It tells the
story of a vocation that is fully realized.

King's Body: Sacred Rituals of Power in Medieval and Early Modern Europe

Highly recomended cholarly historical survey & analysis.
Ably translated from the original Italian by R. Burr Litchfield (Professor of History, Brown University), The King's Body: Sacred Rituals Of Power In Medieval And Early Modern Europe by Sergio Bertelli (Professor of History, University of Florence) presents an amazing and scholarly focus on a critical piece of European history: the nature and meaning of the sacred rituals associated with kingship. From the Vandal kings of Spain to the long succession of kings in England and France, The King's Body explores the multiple significance of rituals from birth to crowning and death. Very highly recommended for anyone with a keen interest in the history of the European monarchies, the black-and-white illustrations of classical artwork enhance this scholarly and serious historical analysis.

Very First Words
I purchased this book for my three year old son. He is Autistic, and non-verbal. We both like this book. He loves looking at all of the colorful pictures. What I like is that this book is broken up into catagories like, people, clothing items, foods, toys, animals, parts of the body & more. the pictures are specific, up-close, and colorful, to attract small childrens attention. I feel that this book is perfect for children who are learning to speak, and name objects. It's also great because it's more durable than a paperback with little fingers flipping through the pages!

To Be a Graceful Giant : A Living Expression of Grace
Published in Paperback by Wings of Angels Publishing (04 August, 2000)
Authors: Robert L. Litchfield Jr. and Robert L. Litchfield Jr.
Average review score:

Grace: The most important lesson
What does it mean to live with the Grace of God? Why is living by the Grace of God so important? The answers to these questions are found in this inspirational book by Robert L. Litchfield, Jr. This book will provoke serious thought in readers on how they are currently living their lives, what it means to live with Grace, and how (step-by-step methods) they can achieve greater joy by living with Grace. Five famous faces appear on the cover because they each lived their lives with Grace and serve as good examples on how important being a "Graceful Giant" can be. I highly recommend this book to any reader interested in learning why having Grace is one of the most important things in life and the steps that he or she can take to live with it.

Graceful Giant
I first read a few chapters from my mother's copy of this great book. Then I bought a copy and read it all the way through. My wife then read it all the way through and bought another copy to send to a relative. It is so worth reading and re-reading that we didn't want to pass along our own copy to others.

The book is about being nice to others and the reasons for doing so. Although Christian in nature, Robert Litchfield makes it clear that being a "Graceful Giant" is something to aspire to regardless of your religious beliefs or non-beliefs. Litchfield gives examples of "Graceful Giants" out of the pages of world history as well as from his own experiences.

If you would like to become a nicer person yourself and/or learn how to help others to be more like the "Graceful Giants" of history then I strongly recommend this book.

A Must Read for Our Current Recovery
What a life saver! I am so glad I found this book!!!
Graceful Giant IS an inspiring book that evoked in me, as I read it, a
sense of peace and calm. I found myself smiling as I recognized
people I know and as I recognized characteristics of myself that I
hadn't given much recognition. This is a book that will be a great
directive for how we can live from this moment on so the world can be
a better place. This is a book that gives me HOPE! Thank you Mr. Litchfield!
